The lights macro on and off several times before they claim home on Henry and I. We go though this situation with ease-almost like a calm summer's day with a warm breeze. Until it is broken by laughter like cold rain hitting the cement. Henry and I are the cement. The laughter is the cold rain-cruel and shocking. Why are they laughing? He's speaking French to me! It's cute! Why... why are they laughing when he kisses my hand? Would you rather he kissed my face, because quite frankly, I think you would laugh if we both died right on the spot.
We end the scene and bow with Kylie and Isaac and run off stage to change. Nick and I look at each other with exasperation as we wonder WHY WERE THEY LAUGHING?
I book it to the dressing room and exchange my shimmering gold dress for a black ensemble. Quickly taking off my tiara and replacing it with a beret, I run back to the Stage Left Entrance to help Kylie out of her Chamber Dress and into our matching ensemble pieces. We hear Mr. Shelley buying time by informing everyone that Steve Jobs died. (idead)
We perform and the audience laughs during MURDER. Either a) they're super morbid, or b) they're trying to lighten the mood. I hope the latter.
The scene ends and we run to get changed. I want to talk to people, so I hurry like a mad woman. I go out of the Drama Room and I am encompassed. I talk to people, some I know, others I don't. I go back into the Drama Room some time later and tape my shoes together and go to Nick and tell him good job.
"Hey Nick," I say.
"Hey Talia," he responds.
"Good job tonight... I don't quite know why they were laughing though..." I say.
"Ha! Yeah, that was unexpected."
"You stayed in character so incredibly well! You kept me there."
"Thanks!"
"Thank you. I know that it might be kind of hard to be placed in a scene with a sophomore, but you've been so kind."
"Don't think about it. In five years from now, two years will be nothing."
i was laughing because of how cute it was.
