My summer has been like this: New York. A break. Strawberry days. Youth conference. Clear Creek. Girls camp. Clear Creek. Clear Creek. Now.
That was my summer if I named each week. This has been such a great summer. I'm really proud of myself for having it be so great right before my senior year.
You see clear creek up a few times? Here's a story.
Week 7. It rained halfway constant during the week. I had come to recognize a little boy named Caleb because whenever out on the spot, he would get really anxious and suck on the collar of his shirt. I worked with him and his color group on a lip sync of Call Me Maybe. He was too anxious to perform so he sat out. "This is my favorite song" he told me. He was such a sweet kid. Two other counselors took care of him with me. Caleb told us his life story. He had us be his best friends. The next week, I find out his mom emailed in telling us how much fun Caleb had. How he gets teased at school becaus of his quirks. How he is insecure. How he felt like a million bucks at camp because the counselors treated him that way. He felt that he was visiting home because he felt so good at camp.
