Shakespeariance: Chapter 8

Saturday: Round 2
We went to our next round, walking with our new acting comprades from Round 1, to the Science Building. We meet up with Eva, a girl from Orem who is Nick's friend, and she wished to see our scene. We walk into the room that we will be performing in... and there is no room. The bunsen burner took it all. I chuckle nervously to myself as Nick talks to his friends.

"Alright everyone, this round begins at 11?" The judge begins, "Yes, 11. I'm going to take a short break, and then we'll meet just outside of this building."

I toss a reassurred look to Nick and we walk outside of the class room. The Documentary Team comes up to us and asks us how things are going, with their cameras running. Nick and I just look at each other and laugh.

"It's been going really well. The judges are amazing!" Nick exclaimes.

I put in my two cents and we go down the stairs with Eva. We go outside and the temperature drops what must have been twenty degrees. Nick sets the chair down on the top cement slab and he is enveloped with the cape.

"Here, you take the chair," He says to me.
"Are... are you sure?" I ask.
"Yeah, it's fine," he says as he sits down on the cold cement slab.

Unsure, I carefully sit down in the chair, putting on my Pea Coat for warmth. Soon, the judge comes and calls the role. We were smack in the middle, and compared to last time, where we were last, that sounded just fine to me.

We watch the scenes, but soon they all seem to mesh together to me. I tried to focus, but the butterflies that I had got the better part of me. Soon, she calls us.

"OC 22?"

I unbutton my Pea Coat and rip off my gloves and hand them to Luke, who has now joined us along with Michael Taggart. Olivia Petty has my camcorder, out and ready. Nick and I carefully walk down the slope of the hill and come to the front of the 'stage.'

"Hi, we are OC 22, and we will be performing a scene from Henry V," Nick would say.
"Act 5 Scene 2," I added.
"I will be performing the part of King Henry..."
"and I will be performing the part of Katharine."

The chair was set in place and she gives us a wink.

I messed up on my "Frrrrrahnce."
I was disconnected from the scene.
My lines became just words.

I still kick myself for it.

We're kneeling on the ground when Nick says, "Thank you." Applause is heard and I put my shoe back on. We get our chair and come to the top of the hill to where our cement slab is. I get my coat and gloves from Luke and stand next to Nick to watch the rest of the scenes. Orem did a wonderful piece from Antony & Cleopatra.

The Judge calls us all down to the front slab and we hear our judication.
Be Royal. Project. Face out more. Chemistry was wonderful.

I wanted to kick myself. Mr. Shelley runs over to me and tells me to pick my dress up. It's the first time I forgot, and I felt terrible.

We go to lunch inside the Chamber's music room and eat Wendy's. I run into the bathroom to brush my teeth and when I am back, we're ready to run the scene. Add to it. Make it better.
Be Royal. Project. Face Out. Continue on Chemistry. Emotion.
Over and over and over again. I'm more careful. These words are Katharine's. I can't lose them.

We go to a place outside and run through it one more time before we went to our next and final class room.
That would be the last time we'd perform our scene in costume.
The defeat I felt from knowing that seemed to knock me down, so I had to make it worth it.
I would give this next peformance everything I have and more.
