Be in the Know-know who is going going to be there, what you're going to be doing. It'll help you make choices in dates and you'll be able to dress appropriately.
Don't apologize-be true to yourself and your standards, but maintain proper decorum.
Don't lead the poor guy on-a flirtationship is different from a relationship. Make sure he knows.
Keep the phone away-silent. You don't have to turn it off, just away, but close enough to save you from bad situations.

Date around-it'll help you figure out what you want in your Forever Man.
Look a tad nicer than normal-the guy is (most likely) spending money on you.
