Today's work at subway was better than Saturday. I think I served a homeless man. Sure, I serve the elite people and MANY of the middle class, but he was beyond my spectrum. I cared about this man. When I gave him the total cost of his sandwich, his eyes filled with panic as he looked down into his hands to see how much money he could spend. I apologized, saying I hit the wrong button. Then I secretly pressed the 50% off discount button and gave him the total of $2.93. I gave him a water cup. He walked away telling me I made a beautiful sandwich. Posterity, if I get in trouble for this, I will NOT regret it. I can not stop thinking about that man. He had the glow of a child's eyes-the light of Christ-in his light blue eyes. It was like he knew life gave him a hard deck of cards, but he knew he could make a house out of it. TR.
