Prom

here's a picture of me for no reason
As per tradition, it was two weeks to the date of prom and I was dateless. Every year, this was the case. Every year, it was a toss up as to whether I would be asked. Sophomore year, I did not expect to get asked at all, but two weeks before the dance there was a knock at the door. Junior year, the pressure was on. My mom was certain that I would get asked to every dance so she bought me a plethora of dresses, on discount of course. Senior year, with or without a date, I would go to prom.
I humored the idea of stag with a group of girls. But girls don't have the appeal to me that men do.

I was stuck. What was I going to do? All the times that I had gone to prom, someone told the boy(s) to take me because "I deserve to go." That's a soapbox for another day. Someone shoved the words down their throats and they asked me, though I wasn't top priority.

I'm not saying any of this to get sympathy, it is just what has happened. My story has to build somewhere, right?

13 days and counting to prom, I made my decision. I asked someone to prom. and he said yes.

  1. I asked a boy to prom this year. I have absolutely no regrets.
