I said those exact words over a year ago in the basement of my house to a close friend. I would do anything for drama. Here I am, a year later, having breakfast with the same friend. Just catching up, life had gone far ahead of both of us to catch up at a normal tempo. I gave the same shpeal I give to most anyone about my plans for the future. Work the rest of summer, get a job at Utah State, study to be a surgical nurse. Why am I not going into drama? The life isn't what I want for my family. I want to help people.
Then came the question, "What about drama? A year ago you told me you would do anything for drama." His words were those of a friend, at first glace pressuring me to do theatre. I could laugh and smile and nod with what he said. But then came the punch line "It really doesn't matter what you do. You could be addicted to heroine but if you knew you were happy, I could support you (not what you're doing. I'd say "STOP IT"). You could be an aviator, a teacher, a doctor. A mom. But do what makes you happy. Do anything for that."
You can't plan on life, it is the most changing concept humans may ever face. There is no promise in waking up tomorrow. You can't plan on getting married and having a family. Do what makes you happy and proud of yourself. Don't let one botched experience stop you from pursuing your dreams. A game does not a player make. The player makes the game. He alone holds all the variables and decides how to play. Whether to steal second or swing the bat at all.
Do something you would do anything for.
But if it's heroine, stop it.
